King James Version
Psalm 134
Concluding the fifteen Songs of Ascents (Psalms 120 through 134), this concise hymn forms a night blessing exchanged between temple guardians and departing worshippers. It calls upon night watchmen in the sanctuary to lift their hands in praise, receiving in return a blessing from the Creator. As the final pilgrim song, it marks the climax of the journey up to Jerusalem before travelers head home. A representative key verse states: "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD." (Psalm 134:2). The chapter provides a graceful ending to the pilgrimage collection with mutual goodwill.
1 Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the house of the LORD.
2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.
3 The LORD that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion.
